Do you have three avocados that are suddenly ripe? Then it’s time to make some guacamole.

This basic guac has only 5 ingredients and it makes a great snack any time. It’s good on tacos, too. I like to eat mine with chips and salsa and a beer, while watching a Sunday football game.

Basic vegan guacamole—this easy recipe has only 5 ingredients, but you can spice it up if you want to.

Basic Vegan Guacamole

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 2 jalapeños
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 lime (juice of)
  • salt to taste

Directions:

  1. Mash the avocados in a bowl.
  2. Squeeze the lime juice over the avocado and sprinkle with salt.
  3. Mince the garlic and jalapeños and add them to the avocado.
  4. Stir and serve.

That’s the super basic version. Feel free to add any additional ingredients you like. I added tomatoes, tomatillos, red onion and cilantro in the photo below.

Here’s a not-so-basic vegan guacamole, with tomatoes, cilantro, and red onion.

Vegan Shopping Tip:

Stick to basic tortilla chips for dipping—the plain ones are usually vegan, but sometimes flavors like “hint of lime” have a hint of something else. Check the ingredients for things like milk powder.
